Works in the OCCIPITAL collection offer you a broader perspective and an insight into the way the artist sees the world. The catalogue of works depicts a direct response to how Claire experiences kaleidoscopic aura’s as a result of damage to the occipital lobe in her brain. You can see in this work a depiction of an experience of these detailed and sometimes overwhelming auras full of light, colour, movement and repetition.

“In a flash our brains calculate depth, colour, objects, movements…but what happens when your brain is forced to see things from a new perspective? I seek to display the beauty with the pain of brain injury. Through my own distorted kaleidoscope lens. The work is created to offer an insight into what is like viewing life through my eyes. An array of ever changing pattern and shapes that can make even the dullest of moments distorted, yet alive in colour.” - Claire Foord
