COLOUR THEORY investigates chromotherapy and synaesthesia through a visual art representation of colour theory. A response to these conditions will be shown through painted works. A colour therapist on the opening night, providing a colour reading for gallery goers, will present a personal connection to the artworks and greater understanding of the exhibition.

Synaesthesia is a neurological condition which triggers a sensory pathway that in one common form causes Synesthetes to see letters and numbers in individual colours. Totally intriguing is the way in which some people perceive life. Synesthetes have what to me seems to me a gift in a creative sense.

Chromotherapy or colour therapy is often used as a complementary medicine where colour is used to balance energy. Trained therapists might use coloured light to aid healing or in some cases colour cards are used to read a person's energy levels by colours they may be drawn to at any particular time.

Taking reference from the above condition and treatment I have produced a visual art representation which explores these phenomena together with basic principles of colour theory; the colour wheel, colour harmony & the context of how colours are used.
